Seen today, seven days a week

Dental emergencies don't wait for a weekday. One Dental in Saddle Ridge keeps time in the schedule every day for urgent problems, and we're open seven days a week — including Sundays, when most NE Calgary clinics are shut. New patients are welcome; you don't need to have been here before.

Symptoms

Is it a dental emergency?

If it’s on this list, call us rather than wait it out.

  • Severe toothache
  • Swelling or abscess
  • Broken or chipped tooth
  • Knocked-out tooth
  • Lost filling or crown
  • Bleeding that won't stop
  • Pain after dental work
  • Wisdom tooth pain
Time matters

Knocked-out tooth? You have about an hour.

A knocked-out adult tooth has the best chance of being saved if it’s back in place within 30 to 60 minutes. Pick it up by the crown — never the root. If it’s dirty, rinse it for a couple of seconds, then put it straight back in the socket and bite gently on a clean cloth to hold it there. If it won’t go back in, keep it in a cup of cold milk — not water, not wrapped in a tissue — and call us on your way.

Before you arrive

What to do right now

  • ToothacheRinse with warm salt water and take adult over-the-counter pain relief as directed on the packet. Don't hold aspirin against the gum — it burns the tissue.
  • SwellingHold a cold compress against the outside of your face, 15 minutes on and 15 off.
  • Broken or chipped toothKeep any pieces. Cover a sharp edge with dental wax or sugar-free gum so it doesn't cut your tongue or cheek.
  • Lost filling or crownKeep the crown if you still have it — it can often be re-cemented. Avoid chewing on that side.
  • BleedingPress firmly on the area with clean gauze for 10–15 minutes without checking it every minute.
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if swelling is spreading towards your eye or neck, or if you have trouble breathing or swallowing. That is beyond what any dental clinic can safely treat, and it needs a hospital.
Treatment

What we can do today

  • Exam and x-rayTen minutes to know exactly which tooth, and how deep it goes.
  • Getting you out of painFreezing first, questions after.
  • Treating infectionDraining an abscess and prescribing antibiotics where they're needed.
  • Repairing a broken toothBonding or a temporary repair the same day, with a permanent fix booked after.
  • Emergency root canalWhen the nerve inside the tooth is infected and the tooth is worth saving.
  • ExtractionWhen a tooth genuinely can't be saved — with the replacement options explained.
All of it starts with a phone call.

Call 587-417-2537 and we’ll tell you honestly whether it can wait or whether you should come in today. That costs you nothing either way.

Questions people ask

If yours isn't here, call us — the front desk can answer most of them in a couple of minutes.

Can you see me today?
Usually, yes. We keep time in the daily schedule for emergencies. Call as early as you can — the earlier you ring, the more options we have. We're open seven days a week, including Sundays 8am to 3pm.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or worsening pain, facial swelling, a knocked-out or badly broken tooth, bleeding that won't stop, a lost filling or crown that's causing pain, or an infection. If you're unsure, call — it costs nothing to ask and we'll tell you honestly whether it can wait.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
Call and we'll be upfront before you come in. For reference, the Alberta Dental Association's 2026 suggested fee for an emergency examination is $81.05, with x-rays and any treatment charged on top depending on what's needed. We accept CDCP and direct-bill insurance for emergency care.
Do you see emergency patients who aren't registered with you?
Yes. You don't need to be an existing patient — most of the people we see in an emergency aren't.
Are you open on Sundays?
Yes, every Sunday from 8am to 3pm. Most clinics in NE Calgary aren't, which is the main reason people find us on a weekend.
Should I go to the hospital instead?
For a dental problem, a dentist is usually the right call — hospital emergency departments can manage pain and infection but generally can't treat the tooth itself. Go to the emergency room or call 911 if swelling is spreading towards your eye or neck, or if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing.
Do you accept CDCP for emergencies?
Yes. Emergency exams and treatment fall within CDCP's covered categories, subject to your income tier.
